I work from a client-centered approach stemming from compassion and understanding for your struggles and longing for a healthier life. I also work from a place of reconnecting you mentally, emotionally, and physically as a way to empower you and all that you have to offer but up until now have been having difficulties accessing. I provide a safe environment for you and I to explore and develop a deeper understanding of where you have come from and how you want your life to be like going forward.
• To provide a safe & respectful environment
• To help you access your own insight
• To be a witness to your experience and an advocate for your future
• To hold hope that life can transform for you
• To watch you as you live a meaningful life
I help my clients with the following:
The therapy I do is centered around this very point. We cannot change the things that have happened for people or will happen, but strengthening the relationship with one’s self is key in navigating life and healing.
I can help you develop healthier ways of dealing with others in your life by working with you to improve the relationship you have with yourself. By having a good relationship with yourself, you can be more open, vulnerable and be fully “in” your relationships.
Suicide is an option to relieve one’s suffering and pain, only it has detrimental consequences to the person and the people in someone’s life. I provide other alternatives through feeling the emotions that are underneath all this and to create the experience of relief this way, verses dying or just going through the motions of living.
Everyone grieves in her or his own way and in their own time. People going through grief may experience feelings of sadness, guilt, regret, anger. Some may feel a sense of meaningless and emptiness. No one way of grieving is better than another. Each experience of grief is unique, complex, and personal. It puts us front and center of our vulnerabilities of being human and that hurts. I help to work through the pain of loss and bring them to a place of acceptance and relief by really feeling the loss in a healthy way.
Depression is a way of coping where one turns in on themselves and they are not able to see any hope or a way out of their pain. It is a form of giving up. As human beings we need to feel that there are choices and options in life and not feel like we are just going through the motions of living. Feelings of severe despair over an extended period of time affects every part of your life: your emotions, your physical health, your relationships, your work. I provide other alternatives through feeling the emotions that are underneath all this and help create within you the experience of relief.
Anxiety happens when we are not noticing our emotions and feelings around situations and experiences we are having. Essentially ignoring ourselves until our bodies cannot cope anymore and then panic attacks and feeling like we are going to have a heart attack and die sets in. Feelings serve vital purpose for us in our survival and when we ignore them or dismiss them the body reacts. I help people sit with the underlying emotions they are experiencing and take them to a place of relief.
Trauma and Abuse
About 80% of my practice is dedicated to people who have had histories of childhood trauma and/or abuse and neglect; or incidences of trauma in their lives as adults. There are many consequences of trauma in how negatively it impacts people lives. This may show up in various forms such as depression, anxiety, addiction, relationship struggles. This happens because if one has experienced abuse or neglect they were not then provided with a good sense of self or a solid enough foundation to handle life’s challenges or the skills to make good choices around all this. I help them to work through the emotions of what happened to them and through our relationship start to build a better and healthier relationship with themselves.
